School As an Educational Environment in the Pedagogical thought of Feliks Jezierski

Abstract

Abstrakt: Feliks Jezierski (1817-1901) was a teacher, writer, and philosopher. His pedagogical interests arose on the basis of his professional and teaching work. In his writings devoted to the field of both pedagogy and philosophy, Jezierski addressed the important issue of school, especially the issue of teacher and student. In his deliberations, he presented an image of an institution that should prepare a young person for adult life. Feliks Jezierski did not concentrate on mastering the curriculum but on the ability to think and express his judgments. He made the teacher the most important link in the school, responsible for achieving the set goals. He combined his teaching and educational work, emphasizing the importance of his professional duties. Jezierski was convinced that the function he performed required special preparation and commitment.
