Contexts of the Lifelong Creativity of Women of Polish Science

Abstract

 The concept of turning points contains a multitude of meanings and contexts of interpretation. The proposed approach to the issue of turning points in biography concerns life experiences of a diverse nature: as creative (developmental), breakthrough and transgressive. The study is an attempt to answer the question about the essence of life experiences understood in this way. The first part of the study explains the key categories of concepts, their understanding and interpretations. The context of the analysis conducted in the second part is the sources of life experiences in biographies and the (whole) life work of women of Polish science: Maria Stefania Grzegorzewska, (1888–1967), Alina Szemińska (1907–1986) and Halina Mirosława Spionek-Pelc (1924–1991). Pioneers of empirical pedagogy and developmental psychology based on child development research. They were among the people who created the methodological and organizational foundations for later research on children in Poland. Their interest in the issues of child development and upbringing and in the work of a teacher resulted in significant scientific achievements. Their achievements inspire further discussion on the subject of research in this area of issues.
