In 1921 Volhynia became a part of the Second Polish Republic. This fact influenced the organization of the school system under polish ideas, though it has to be noted, that this part of Poland was quite diverse ethnically. Most people, of course, were Ukrainian, others were Poles, Jews, Germans and Czechs. Therefore, in the educational system, there were teachers from these nationalities, though most of them were Polish. Volhynia could be categorized as a special place in the biographies of teachers. For some of them, mostly Ukrainians, this was their place of birth. A second group of teachers consisted of people desperately looking for work and Volhynia just became the place they found it. There were also those for whom Volhynia became the start of their family life.
