Spaces in/of the Dialogue of the Educators of the Heart

Abstract

The title of this article refers to the title of the philosophical sketches ‘Thinking According to Values’ by Fr. Józef Tischner. The dialogue of the educators of the heart shows personal experiences and two perspectives of involvement (action) for the benefit of another human being. The world of values as a plane for/in dialogue is shown in the content of experiences and reflections of Maria Grzegorzewska (1888-1967) – a woman of great heart, and Maria Łopatkowa (1927-2016) – a teacher of the heart. The axiological sensitivity of the involved educators resounds in the intersubjective space of experience. The thoughts and reflections described reveal the humanism of ideas and the dimensions of the activities of the educators of the heart in many fields of practice. What connects and permeates both characters is the relation of values. The personal experiences shown and the narratives cited by the women – the educators of the heart – are in fact an image of the philosophy of the person. There are creative inspirations in the personal dialogue. The considerations are made on three planes of reference: a dialogue with the other in the area of involvement with the heart; meetings of educators in the area of exchange of thoughts around the value of personal life experiences; and the essence and meaning of human activity – ready to transcend oneself – as a creative transgression.
