The article concerns the phenomenon of Strumians treated as locus educandi. The protagonists of the article are: poet and writer, Joanna Kulmowa, who together with her husband Jan Kulma, a philosopher and musician, settled in Strumiany in the years 1961-1996. The Kulmas, replacing the capital city with rural communality, philosophical experience of nature and Heidegger-style spatial rhetoric, will begin to live in Strumiany pedagogically. They will build their own Strumiany pedagogy in Strumiany. It will imply educational processes aimed at activating activities related to the search for creative expression, the creation of the effect of artistic presence of man in the world. The Strumian community, which the Kulmowie will create thanks to the artistic pedagogy of the Stream, will acquire urban features. It will be a pedagogical expression of the Kulmas' emancipatory concern for the human right to individualism, freedom and creativity, which are a model of effective human social functioning. The article, which uses terminology related to the pedagogy of the place, established by Maria Mendel, is dedicated to the memory of Joanna and Jan Kulma and their friend, Hanna Buczyńska-Garewicz, the author of the monograph Places, pages, surroundings.
