This article is a pedagogical and bibliographic introduction to the common places present in the lives and works of Janusz Korczak and Joanna Kulmowa. In the author’s opinion, the original metaphors of ‘grafting’ and ‘pasture world’ are connected with the phenomenon of the ‘linguistic practice of autobiography’, which is successfully implemented by both authors. It is a peculiar combination of the ‘art of upbringing’ with literary escapism and the language of early education. Kulmowa manifests it through her connections with the pedagogy of childhood and the child’s right to respect advocated by Korczak. The article on ‘living metaphors’ is another announcement of a more extensive study on the subject.
