Pedagogy of the Heart and the Emotional Development of a Child in Isolation
Abstract
The article reflects on the impact of pedagogy of the heart on the situations of children raised in correctional settings. The text consists of two parts: theoretical and practical. In the first, an attempt is made to present the pedagogy of the heart in a much broader way than is usually done in the literature. Traditionally, it is usually confined to the theoretical and practical ideas of Maria Lopatkowa. However, this time an attempt was made to present an implicit and at the same time potential connection between the views and solutions proposed by M. Łopatkowa and the Polish philosophy in the Polish philosophy of the heart. Its main representative is Kaźmierz Dąbrowski. Ethics of the heart may also have had an influence. The activities of Janusz Korczak cannot be forgotten either. In this case, it can even be said that he was the protoplast of M. Łopatkowa's views, although she did not simply state this. It is simply that very many elements are common to the pair, both in theory and in practical activity. The practical part presented the conditions of upbringing of children in the Mother and Child Home in Krzywaniec. The main determinant was the principle of the need to build a loving relationship between the child and its mother.
