The Religiosity of the Child in the Works of Janusz Korczak and Joanna Kulmowa
Abstract
A child's religiousness plays an important role in a holistic approach to education, in which an important role is played by: education in prayer and skilfully conducted catechesis. The memory of his own childhood was reflected in the autobiographical matter of Korczak's original "prayers" and Kulmowa's lyrical "prayers". Education for prayer according to Korczak and Kulmowa is associated with a religious reinterpretation of "educational moments", present in a special way in Korczak's work Alone with God. Prayers of those who do not pray. And in Joanna Kulmowa's Various Such Prayers. These works are located at the "crossroads of religious paths" by Korczak and Kulmowa, they confirm the importance of children's spirituality, the effectiveness of prayer in moral, community and ecclesial education.
According to the author, Korczak's Prayers and Various Such Prayers by Kulmowa are the most perfect example of combining the pedagogy of religion with the pedagogy of culture at the highest level. This article is an exemplification of this fact, a proposal to include the ecumenical Prayers of Janusz Korczak and the Prayer Prayers of Joanna Kulmowa in the catechetical model of education, in which an important role is played by the hermeneutic understanding of the practice of religious teaching and education.
