Biographical Sequences Reconstructed from the Perspective of an Individual’s Experi-ence

Abstract

The narrator described in this article came to Tarnobrzeg in the 1960s in order to work in the sulphur industry. It was not his personal decision but that of his mother. His first contact with the city did not make a positive impression on the narrator, but it was not a reason for him to return to his family. However, the new place and activity changed and stabilised his life. He underwent transformation from a person controlled from the outside to a person controlled from the inside. His adult life created in the new space, in professional and personal contexts, allowed the narrator to experience a sense of efficiency and control over his existence, and to acquire new skills and competences.
